Chapter Three: March News from Madison Reading Project
We’re getting excited for warmer weather and are thrilled it is finally Spring! For us, warmer weather is a sign that it is almost time for our Big Red Reading Bus programming to begin! By the way, did you hear the big news? We are expanding our mobile service fleet with a new, larger and accessible bus that will be ready to roll in 2024!
The office has been buzzing lately while all of the teams are coming together for our annual Ready to Wear fashion show and fundraiser. We can’t wait to see all of the creativity and flair going into this year’s designs. Tickets go on sale this week, so make sure you keep an eye on your inbox and our social media to keep up to date on our most exciting event of the year!
In the coming weeks we will give away our 400,000th book as an organization and we couldn’t be more grateful for all of your support in helping us get here!

Free Book Fairs
We’ve been having a lovely time giving books to local kids through our new Free Book Fair program. Our staff bring a fun and exciting book shopping experience to local elementary and middle schools to provide each student in the school with a brand new book.
So far this year we have shared this experience with 1,962 scholars at Sandburg Elementary, Frank Allis Elementary and John Muir Elementary in MMSD, One City Schools and Glacier Edge Elementary in Verona.
We were able to launch this program due to a generous donation from Madison Public Library.
