Book Mark'd (K-12th Grade)
Book Mark’d, Madison Reading Project’s school age literacy program, connects students and educators in our community with new, high-interest books that spark a joy of reading.
Free Book Fairs
Our Free Book Fairs create a book-browsing experience that ignites the joy of reading in kids. We work with local schools to give every student the opportunity to select a high-interest book that they can keep forever.
Our staff work with school staff and administrators to determine the best space, schedule, and selection of books for their school or program, and we do the rest!
STEAM+Literacy
Our STEAM+Literacy service allows us to connect with kids and staff at neighborhood sites on a recurring basis. During three six-week sessions (fall, winter, and spring), our staff brings themed read-alouds and hands-on activities. Each child also has the opportunity to choose two free books at each visit to bring home and keep forever.
Summer Bus
During the summer months, our staff pack our two Red Reading Buses full of books and hit the road! We partner with local community organizations and schools to give away high-quality and high-interest titles to kids, focusing on where access to books is needed most. Check out our Red Reading Bus page to see where we’re heading next!
Support for School Age Educators
As part of our ongoing efforts to support the amazing educators that build relationships with kids and families and facilitate opportunities to grow literacy skills, we also provide free books to School Age Educators to build diverse classroom and program libraries. For more information or to sign up, check out our books for educators program page.
